Things allegedly went ugly between a young couple in the course of lovemaking.
As reported by the News Agency of Nigeria, 31-year-old Godspower Johnson allegedly beat his wife to death during a fight over s*x.
The prosecutor, Insp. Oladele Adebayo, told an Ebute Metta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Friday that the defendant committed the offence on March 21, 2019 at 5.30p.m., at No. 28, Adekoye St., Igbo-Elerin, Ishashi. Adebayo alleged that Johnson beat his wife, Deborah, aged 31, to death during a fight.
“The defendant wanted to make love to his wife, he inserted his two fingers into her private part, which didn’t go down well with the deceased.“A fight ensued, leading the defendant to beat up his wife,” Adebayo told the court.
Chief Magistrate O.O. Olatunji thereafter ordered that Godspower be kept at the Ikoyi Prison, Lagos, for the next 30 days pending advice from the state Director of Public Prosecutions on the case.
The prosecutor said that murder contravened the provisions of Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. NAN reports that Section 223 stipulates death sentence for the offence.
Olatunji adjourned the case until June 7 for mention.
Yahoo Boys Unleash Dog On EFCC Operatives In Ibadan
Some suspected fraudsters operating in Ibadan, South-western part of Nigeria have been arrested by the anti-graft agency, EFCC.
Some suspected internet fraudsters have been arrested after unleashing a dog on detectives from EFCC, #Ibadan zonal office, on Wednesday, at Agara area.
One of the suspects allegedly instructed the guard to release the dog to attack the men in other to resist arrest, however, the trick failed, as the detectives dislodged the dangerous dog and carried out an extensive search on the apartment before arresting the suspects.
Again, out of desperation to conceal useful information that could help the commission in their investigation, one of the suspects smashed his android phone with the intention to destroy the gadget and deny access to the data therein.
The attempt equally failed as the operatives took possession of the broken phone and deposited it with the forensic unit for proper analysis of the recovered data.
Suspects arrested in the operation are Paul Afolabi, Balogun Ibrahim Adebayo, Izu Ibobo Chukwunalu, Abe Tolulope, Onifade Gidion Idowu, Komolafe Tosin and Igwe Kinsley Otuu.
